Going the Extra Mile at MyComputerCareer

The sense of community and "people helping people" at MyComputerCareer is amazing! A member of our Indianapolis staff has taken it upon herself to do bake sales and raise funds to help students that need help with bus fare and testing fees. Unfortunately, as a school, we can’t distribute funds to students this way - but students can help each other. So this staff member donates her time and resources to make cake pops, cookies, and other baked goods. Students and staff donate money for the baked goods and the money is used to help students. Earlier this month, enough was raised to help two students secure monthly bus passes so they can get to class. It's incredible how much everyone cares here!

MyComputerCareer is completely dedicated to the success of our students and alumni. We give our students the skills and knowledge to succeed in Information Technology and go so far as to find ways to get our students to class! Let us help you get your first computer job. Check out the MyComputerCareer program, read the success stories, and take the FREE Career Evaluation to see if this is something for you.

You've probably done this yourself. Set up a line of dominos - knock one over and they all follow. There are TONS of crazy domino videos on YouTube and elsewhere. In life, the domino effect is a chain reaction that occurs when one change causes a similar change nearby.

Two weeks ago, I received an email from an IT hiring manager at a Houston company. They needed PC Technicians to start in ONE WEEK! I sent a MyComputerCareer graduate on an interview the next day, Tuesday. He came to us unemployed and was looking for a way into a computer career. On Thursday, he was hired! Last Monday he started!!! This graduate was so well qualified for the position, and prepared for the interview, the company decided to hire THREE MORE MyComputerCareer students!

MyComputerCareer is more than getting you prepared for a computer certification. We get you prepared for a computer CAREER. It's IT skills, applied knowledge, interview know-how, and the success our graduates have demonstrated in the field. Success Breeds Success As MyComputerCareer Partners With Businesses

Raleigh CSDWe had an awesome turnout in Raleigh from students and companies for the MyComputerCareer Student Career Fair. Nine local companies were in attendance with gifts for the students and huge displays. The students were thrilled to see just how successful it was.

Two students were already offered jobs at our number one client, who was at the Fair. We also had two students start working for them last week through their veterans program (they do not have to wait on background checks in this program). Here is a little history on these two:

Student #1 is a retired veteran with a lot of management experience and his own computer repair business on the side. When he was laid off, he decided to go with his passion for IT. This student interviewed last week and started working for the client on Monday in a full-time, permanent IT position. He told me after his first couple days that he loves the job and it was just the right fit.

Student #2 was a truck driver before enrolling at MyComputerCareer. He also interviewed last week with our client and started work in his new IT job on Monday as Technical Support. On his first day at work, he called me to say, "my manager needs to hire two more people immediately and I told him about MyComputerCareer!" We were able to get him three students with CompTIA A+ certification within 30 minutes. Two of them were offered positions!

Reputation Management Gets Our Students IT Jobs

Houston CSDI thought I had spoken with every staffing company in Houston, but not the one that called me last week. They have heard of MyComputerCareer, 'though. The recruiter that contacted me said he knew us from some of our students. These students worked for a company that he was staffing for and had all been doing a really good job.

It says a great deal about the type of service we are providing to the community here in Houston. To get a call from a company that knows us because of our students is remarkable.

This recruiter had a client that needed techs to build and test laptops, desktops and servers.  We spent some time together and I provided him with some students. Thus far he has called and interviewed every student I sent him and they are all moving forward in the hiring process. The problem is he wants MORE candidates!!! What a problem to have!

How would you like to be an in-demand candidate for an IT Job??? Check out the MyComputerCareer program, read the success stories, and take the FREE Career Evaluation to see if this is something for you.

Are Colleges Worth The Money?

Did I Waste Money? Here's something to think about when considering getting a college degree: what's the Return on Investment? Regardless of starting up a college career or going back to school, "higher education" is EXPENSIVE! In an extensive annual report of 1248 colleges and universities by PayScale, a global compensation research firm, the average cost of a "four-year" degree is $128,089!!!

Considering the scarcity of jobs these days, and limited marketability of many degree programs offered by colleges and universities, it is no surprise that many of the schools surveyed have a NEGATIVE ROI! In fact, 352 of the schools show a net loss when comparing overall cost to 30 years of earnings. That number is even more depressing if you're considering a degree completion program and won't have 30 years to try and recoup your investment.

Today's job market requires specific quantifiable skills. The survey quoted above begs the question: are those skill being taught in college? If so, what other irrelevant information has to be picked up, and paid for, along the way? Wouldn't it make more sense to get the skills employers need as fast as possible so you can get your career going? That's the philosophy of MyComputerCareer. Get in, learn the skills you need for an IT career, get out with a job in 3-6 months. Anything else is burning cash and spinning wheels. Check out the MyComputerCareer program, read the success stories, and take the FREE Career Evaluation to see if this is something for you.

The highest-paid 10 percent in the profession earned $119,070 that year, while the lowest-paid 10 percent earned $48,360. The most highly compensated positions support the mining and oil and gas extraction industries, and the highest-paying jobs can be found in the Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, CT, Las Cruces, NM, and Jacksonville, NC - about 2 hours from Raleigh.
